Salvado Catholic College is a co-educational Catholic College that opened at the commencement of 2016. Located in Byford in the Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale, the fastest growing area in Australia, we currently have students from Pre-Kindergarten to Year 7. The College will continue to grow each year to reach its ultimate capacity as a K-12 Catholic College of choice in the area.
The Stage 1 build saw the development of an innovative and eye-catching building design with a focus on shared, collaborative learning spaces which promote 21st century teaching and learning approaches. The Stage 2 build saw the completion of the Primary Campus of the College including the Year 3 & 4 and Year 5 & 6 Blocks, modern and flexible Resource Spaces, tennis hardcourts, soccer pitch, play spaces and additional car park bays. In 2020, the Stage 3 build is due to commence, which will see site works of the Secondary Campus start taking shape in preparation for the commencement of Year 7 students in 2021.
As part of the St Francis Xavier Armadale Parish, we work in partnership with our Parish Priest to live our Catholic faith in communion with one another. At Salvado Catholic College we strive to ‘Make Jesus Real’ each day in the way we ‘Greet, Treat and Speak’ to one another. Our students come to know the person of Jesus in a thriving and welcoming Catholic community that actively witnesses to Gospel values.
Our holistic teaching and learning programs provide opportunities for students to explore, create and discover in purposeful and meaningful experiences. We recognise that young children learn best through play and as such our Early Years Learning Spaces provide students with an environment that encourages and enhances play opportunities to stimulate independence, collaboration and problem solving. Educators scaffold and engage children’s learning and ensure that intentional teaching occurs through play and inquiry.
The integration and utilisation of digital technology devices is a focus across the College to assist in preparing students for the demands of an ever-changing world. With banks of iPads in each Learning Space, as well as robotics and coding devices, teachers work with students to achieve powerful and relevant learning and teaching outcomes. The Year 4 and Year 6 students are part of a 1:1 iPad program.
Our students participate in Specialist classes including Physical Education, Science, Music and Languages (Italian). Students requiring additional literacy support work in small groups as part of the MiniLit and MacqLit program. Our students also have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities including Interschool Sports, College Choir and Mini Vinnies, with many more experiences on the horizon as we continue to grow as a community.
Our enthusiastic and dedicated staff work in partnership with parents and the wider community to provide rich teaching and learning opportunities that assist all students to become effective, confident, motivated, collaborative & resilient lifelong learners.
